Reviving Hope to provide resources to district employees facing cancer – A story from the Examiner

Sparking Lights and Shiny Ornaments

For the first Christmas season at the Reviving Hope mansion Grace Christian Assembly Church donated funds for a glorious artificial Christmas tree and all the holiday trimmings.  Families of Independence School District employees staying at house will delight in the festive feel of holiday decoration.  Many more Christmas seasons will be decked to the halls with bells and holly.

Volunteers on a Mission

Every year a unit of teen youth volunteers rides across town in a fun-filled bus to the Reviving Hope mansion.  For the last two years Christian youth from the Noland Road Baptist Church have scheduled a work day at the mansion.  Teens arrive ready and willing to work.  Many odd jobs are needed to be completed at the mansion and are perfect for teens to finish to perfection.  Grabbing tools and sprinting off to a task is job number one.  This year projects consisted of painting doors, spackling walls, cleaning out basement closets, spraying ceiling tiles, and several more tasks.

It is always a pleasure to work with the teens from Noland Road Baptist. Reviving Hope consultants look forward to another year of working with these friendly faces.

All in the Name of Friendship

Blackburn Elementary teachers and staff donated a very special gift to the Reviving Hope program.  This energetic group has designed a job called speed cleaning.  One afternoon more than fifteen volunteers arrived in hoards to help at the Reviving Hope mansion.  Dust and dirt was on their minds and cleaning was a helpful way of helping one of their own.  With loving care ladies scrubbed floors, cleaned bathrooms, shined windows, vacuumed carpets and much more in a matter of a couple of hours.

Brooms, dust pans, cleaning supplies put away, a bright and shiny home was left for a family to relax and find comfort.
