Q: How much does the class cost?
A: Nothing

Q: How much does it cost to take the GED?
A: $40 total. $20 to the State of Missouri and $20 to the College where you choose to take the test.

Q: How long will it take me to get my GED?
A: That depends on the individual and the effort put forth.

Q: Do I need to pre–enroll?
A:Yes, you will need to attend an enrollment session. Call (816) 521-5507 or
e-mail us at ged@indep.k12.mo.us for dates and times.

Q: What if I can't stay for the entire class time?
A: That is OK. Class times are flexible and you can decide your own schedule; however, the more quality time you spend in class, the sooner you will reach your goal.




Q: Do you have child care?
A: No, children are not allowed to attend AEL classes.

Q: Where do I get a GED application?
A: At any GED class location.

Q: Where do I take the actual GED?
A: At any of the following community colleges:
Blue River, Longview, Maple Woods, or Penn Valley.

Q: What do I need to bring?
A: Just yourself, except if you are 17 you will need a drop letter from the last school you attended.

Q: How old do I have to be to start?
A: Students range from 17–100 years old.
